HPH

A Human-Powered Helicopter or HPH is a helicopter that is powered solely by kinetic energy generated by one or more human passengers. For enthusiasts, the pursuit of HPH technology is all about energy efficiency and engineering excellence.

The first successful HPH flight was achieved on 13 June 2013. The American Helicopter Society first laid the gauntlet with a cash prize of $25,000 for this feat in 1980, but it took some 33 years for someone to achieve it. AeroVelo was the winner and it was awarded $250,000 for its HPH design.
